Jigjiga, 26 August 2026 — FC Africa Development, in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO), launched a Business Plan Competition in Jigjiga on Monday to support promising businesses and expand economic opportunities.
The event, held at Lotus Hotel on Aug. 24-25, brought together representatives from government institutions, Jigjiga University, youth organizations, financial institutions and non-governmental organizations.
Participating institutions included the Somali Regional State Cooperative Promotion Agency, the Regional Agriculture Office, Jigjiga City Administration, Jigjiga University, Jigjiga College of Vocational and Technical Education, BDSP Association, Hasi Consultancy, Shabeelle Bank, Rays Microfinance, Kaafi Microfinance, Sahal Microfinance, Inkomoko, Mercy Corps and ARRA.
The program focuses on supporting entrepreneurs, refugees and host communities by providing access to start-up financing and business development services.

It aims to strengthen small and emerging businesses to become sustainable enterprises capable of creating jobs and generating income.
The first day officially marked the launch of the competition, while the second day focused on raising awareness and encouraging the community to take advantage of the opportunities.
The competition is part of broader efforts to promote entrepreneurship and innovation by connecting entrepreneurs with financial institutions and business support providers.
