Kenya, October 15, 2026 - At the Africa Commerce and Industry Summit 2026 at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi, Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Hon. William Kabogo presented a clear vision for Kenya’s digital landscape, arguing that national investments in digital infrastructure must directly yield tangible commercial opportunities for local enterprises and everyday citizens.
Addressing delegates under the theme of driving Africa’s next era of trade, the Cabinet Secretary emphasized that connectivity alone is insufficient unless it helps a young innovator secure their first client, assists a small enterprise in obtaining affordable financing, or enables local businesses to expand across regional borders.
By focusing on core investments in robust digital systems, upskilling, and secure technical frameworks, the government aims to solidify Kenya's position as a premier continental hub where technology and fintech ventures can be built, funded, and scaled.
Central to this strategy is the recognition of homegrown digital solutions that solve immediate, daily challenges for ordinary traders and consumers. Highlighting platforms such as Ambata Ma3, the Cabinet Secretary illustrated how localized digital tools can bridge the gap between high-tech infrastructure and informal commerce by connecting commuters to transport networks while helping market vendors, kiosk owners, and neighborhood shops accept digital payments and reach wider customer bases.
