Mogadishu, 27 August 2026 - Banadir Regional Police on Wednesday denied reports that a person was killed inside Waaberi police station in Mogadishu and that a body was later removed from the station, calling the reports false.
Police said the incident occurred at about 8:50 p.m. on Aug. 26, when a firearm carried by one of the officers discharged after a suspect, identified as Farhan Ibrahim Abshir, allegedly struggled with the officer for control of the weapon.
The bullet struck Abshir in the shoulder, causing what police described as a minor injury. Police said there were no deaths as a result of the incident and that no body had been removed from the station.

Police said an investigation into the incident was under way.
The statement did not provide further details on what led to the confrontation between the suspect and the officer or whether the suspect remained in police custody.
