MOGADISHU (Dawan ) – The Banadir Police Commissioner has clarified the status of former Somali leaders Shariif Sheikh Ahmed and Hassan Cali Khayre, following their return to their residences. The Commissioner emphasized that their return does not constitute immunity from ongoing investigations or legal actions.
“Being allowed to return home does not mean their alleged crimes are overlooked,” the Commissioner said, noting that citizens will still be subject to investigation if they commit offenses in their areas.
He further confirmed that formal legal cases have been opened regarding incidents that occurred during the political unrest, and stressed that the lives of residents and any disturbances related to political tensions cannot be ignored.

This statement comes one day after Shariif Sheikh Ahmed returned to his home in the Wadajir district, an event the government described as marking the conclusion of the three-day unrest in Mogadishu.
