MOGADISHU (Dawan) Banadir has ordered people distributing or slaughtering Eid animals to register with the Markets and Slaughterhouses Department before Eid al-Adha.
A directive from the administration said the measure is aimed at protecting public health and maintaining cleanliness in Mogadishu during the Eid season.
Authorities also banned the slaughter of sacrificial animals outside officially approved slaughterhouses.
“Organizations providing sacrificial animals during Eid must register with the Markets and Slaughterhouses Department so authorities can track the number of animals being slaughtered or planned for slaughter,” the directive said.

The Banadir administration also warned against the slaughter of weak or unhealthy animals during the festivities.
Authorities identified the approved slaughterhouses as Nasiib, Horseed, Soomid, Afrax and Alle Yusuf, along with other facilities legally authorized to carry out animal slaughter.
The directive was circulated to various local government departments, environmental protection forces, district commissioners, Banadir regional police and other officials to ensure enforcement of the order during the Eid period.
