The statement emphasized that Somaliland remains an integral part of the Federal Republic of Somalia, warning that any attempt to undermine Somalia’s unity and territorial integrity runs counter to the African Union’s fundamental principles and risks setting a dangerous precedent with far-reaching consequences for peace and stability across the continent.
The Chairperson further reiterated the African Union’s full support for the efforts of the Somali authorities to consolidate peace, strengthen state institutions, and advance inclusive governance, underscoring the bloc’s continued commitment to Somalia’s stability and sovereignty.
