UK, 16 July 2026 - Arsenal have reached an agreement with Belgian champions Club Brugge to sign Christos Tzolis in a deal worth €40 million (£34 million), with the Greek international set to become Mikel Arteta's latest attacking addition.
The agreement sees Arsenal meet Club Brugge's asking price after making Tzolis their priority target following Leandro Trossard's departure. The 24-year-old is understood to have made Arsenal his preferred destination despite receiving interest from several clubs across Europe.
Arsenal accelerated their pursuit of Tzolis after completing the sale of Belgian forward Leandro Trossard.
The Gunners identified the Greece international as the ideal replacement due to his versatility, productivity and familiarity with English football following his previous spell at Norwich City.
Negotiations progressed rapidly after Club Brugge indicated they would sanction a sale if their €40 million valuation was met. Arsenal accepted those terms, allowing the clubs to reach a full agreement.
Tzolis arrives in North London following two outstanding seasons with Club Brugge.
Since joining the Belgian side from Fortuna Düsseldorf in 2024, he has developed into one of Europe's most productive wide attackers. Across his two seasons in Belgium, he registered 43 goals and 45 assists in 108 appearances, establishing himself as one of the Belgian Pro League's standout performers.
During the 2025–26 campaign, he played a pivotal role in Club Brugge's league success while continuing to impress in European competition.
His strengths include:

These qualities fit the profile Arteta has consistently targeted in recent transfer windows.
Although this will be Tzolis' first appearance for Arsenal, it is not his first experience of English football.
He joined Norwich City from PAOK in 2021 but struggled to establish himself during the club's difficult Premier League campaign. Loan spells at FC Twente and Fortuna Düsseldorf followed, with the latter proving a turning point in his career.
At Fortuna Düsseldorf, Tzolis rediscovered his confidence, scoring 22 league goals during the 2023–24 season before earning a permanent move to Club Brugge.
His rapid improvement in Germany and Belgium convinced Arsenal that he has matured into a player capable of succeeding in the Premier League.

Despite securing Tzolis, Arsenal are expected to continue strengthening their attacking options this summer.
Reports indicate that the move for the Greek winger is independent of the club's pursuit of Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers, who remains one of Arteta's preferred targets.
If Arsenal succeed in signing another winger, Arteta would significantly increase his attacking depth ahead of a campaign that includes Premier League, UEFA Champions League and domestic cup commitments.
Tzolis is expected to provide Arsenal with greater unpredictability in the final third.

For Club Brugge, the transfer represents another major success in player development and recruitment.
Having signed Tzolis from Fortuna Düsseldorf for approximately €6.5 million in 2024, the Belgian club are set to make a substantial profit from his sale after just two seasons.
The deal further strengthens Brugge's reputation as one of Europe's leading clubs for developing and selling elite talent.
With an agreement now in place between Arsenal and Club Brugge, the remaining formalities include the player's medical examination and the completion of contractual documentation before the transfer is officially announced.
If everything proceeds as expected, Christos Tzolis will become Arsenal's newest signing and one of the headline arrivals of the summer transfer window.
For the Gunners, the acquisition represents more than simply replacing Leandro Trossard. It is an investment in one of Europe's most improved wingers, a player entering his prime after flourishing in Belgium and one who now has the opportunity to prove himself once again in the Premier League.
