UK, 29 August 2026 - Liverpool have dropped points for the second consecutive Premier League match after being held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest at Anfield, leaving new manager Andoni Iraola still searching for his first league victory.
The result is particularly frustrating for Liverpool because they had home advantage and twice fought back from a goal down. Forest, meanwhile, produced a disciplined performance under Oliver Glasner to claim their first Premier League point of the season.
The match also continued an early-season pattern that will concern Liverpool. The Reds opened their campaign with a dramatic 2-2 draw away to Newcastle United, requiring a 99th-minute penalty from Dominik Szoboszlai to rescue a point.
Liverpool dominated possession during the opening stages but were punished in the 24th minute when Dan Ndoye gave Forest the lead.
The visitors capitalised on a defensive lapse and carried their advantage into half-time, leaving Liverpool with another difficult second-half comeback.
The Reds eventually found their response through Alexander Isak, who scored in the 60th minute after Liverpool increased the pressure. The Sweden international's goal appeared to have shifted momentum firmly towards the hosts.
However, Forest refused to collapse.
Forest regained the lead in the 70th minute after Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson conceded a penalty following a foul.
Captain Morgan Gibbs-White stepped up and converted from the spot, restoring Forest's advantage and putting Liverpool under enormous pressure for the final stages.
Liverpool responded by throwing more players forward, with Iraola making changes in an attempt to find another route back into the game.
That persistence eventually paid off.
Muñoz produces the moment of the match#
Liverpool's equaliser came in the 82nd minute through new signing Víctor Muñoz, who produced a stunning finish to make it 2-2.
The Spanish winger had only recently arrived at Liverpool and made an immediate impact, announcing himself to the Anfield crowd with a spectacular debut goal.
Liverpool pushed for a winner during the closing stages, but Forest's defensive organisation held firm.
The visitors therefore left Anfield with a valuable point.

The Reds have scored four goals in their opening two league games but have also conceded four, suggesting that the transition under their new manager still has significant room for improvement.
Liverpool's defensive vulnerability is particularly notable. Against Forest, the visitors repeatedly found opportunities on the counter-attack despite Liverpool controlling large portions of possession.
There were also attacking positives. Isak opened his Liverpool league account, while Muñoz provided an exciting glimpse of what he could offer.
But for a club with ambitions of competing at the top of the Premier League, two points from two matches is hardly the ideal start.
Forest earn a huge point#
The draw represents a major improvement for Forest after a difficult opening to the campaign.
They had lost their opening Premier League match 1-0 to Leeds United, before suffering another defeat against Leeds in the Carabao Cup.
Glasner can therefore take considerable encouragement from the performance at Anfield.
Forest defended with discipline, remained dangerous on the break and twice punished Liverpool's mistakes. Most importantly, they showed the resilience required to survive Liverpool's late pressure.
For Liverpool, however, the draw feels like another missed opportunity.
The Reds have now drawn their first two Premier League matches. While the season is still in its infancy, Iraola already faces pressure to turn encouraging passages of football into victories.
The next few weeks will reveal whether these dropped points are simply early-season growing pains or an indication of deeper problems for Liverpool's new era.
