MOGADISHU, 25 October 2026 — Fifteen young people have been given Fekon motorcycles to work with the Rikaab delivery service under the fourth phase of a youth job creation project implemented by Hormuud Salaam Foundation and Rikaab.
Hormuud Salaam Foundation financed the motorcycles, while Rikaab created jobs for them, with the young riders working in its goods delivery service for the community.
The youth will repay the cost of the motorcycles over a one-year period, with no profit or interest added. The foundation said this shows that the programme’s top priority is improving the lives of young people without placing any financial burden on them.
This fourth phase builds on the project’s earlier phases, through which other young people found work with Rikaab.
Hormuud Salaam Foundation is the charitable arm of Hormuud Telecom and Salaam Somali Bank. It funds projects in job creation, education, health and community support.
Rikaab is a transport service that connects passengers and drivers through an app available on the Play Store and App Store, or by calling the short code 7000. The service operates in Mogadishu and also offers goods and food delivery, which these new riders will now be working in.
