Jackline Waruguru Kathuri's lifeless body was discovered on 22 November 2025 in Ninga-ini village, Kirinyaga East Sub-County, after members of the public raised the alarm with Kiamutugu Police Station.
Officers who rushed to the scene found the body of the victim bearing severe burn wounds, a missing right upper arm and breast, and visible head injuries.
The remains were moved to Kerugoya County Referral Hospital for preservation and postmortem examination.
Following the gruesome discovery, DCI detectives launched an immediate manhunt.

The murder of Jackline Waruguru, who was a first-year Human Resource Management student at Embu College, has caused widespread alarm among residents of Gichugu.
Speaking at his daughter’s burial in Kamagambo village, which was attended by fellow students and college officials, her father demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible for what he described as an inhuman act.
A postmortem examination conducted by pathologist Dr Peter Williams at Kerugoya mortuary established that she died from strangulation.
The body was in an advanced state of decomposition, with the head partially skeletalised and the right hand and right breast missing.
Dr Williams further noted significant decomposition of the private parts and internal organs.
